The indie rock group We Are Augustines hails from the United States and they are from the Brooklyn area of New York. The band is made up drummer Rob Allen, bassist Eric Sanderson, and guitarist Billy McCarthy. After their previous band Pela, Sanderson and McCarthy made the decision to continue generating the music that was initially expected to be a part of Pela’s second album. Out of this came the album Rise Ye Sunken Ships, which hit the digital shelves on June 6, 2011.

The name of the band came from the calendar month August. Both Sanderson and McCarthy were blessed to have been born in the month of August, and so was James, McCarthy’s brother. The story surround James was one of the driving forces behind their rookie album. They guys will tell you that Pela dissolved really fast back in 2009 and the new band was initially known as Augustines. But due primarily to another band having the same name, they modified the name to We Are Augustines.

With over 40 songs to choose from that we written during their Peta period the band had quite a bit of material to work with when putting together their first album. They recorded the album twice because they were not happy with the initial results.

There was a knocking of heads between the band and their record label during the Peta period and it was during this time that McCarthy’s brother took his own life. This signaled the end of the group and as such no hr software was need as a new group was formed with a new band member.

So, Sanderson and McCarthy decided to do the album and finish it. They did the album independently and avoided record labels. They had help from persons in the indie scene.

You may or may not realise it, but the music industry can be a pretty fickle business. And this is exactly why so many bands will never get that lucky break… even when they are bursting at the seams with bona fide talent. Hence it’s a sad fact of life that if you aren’t playing the sort of music people want to hear, then you are destined to spend the rest of your days appearing in second-rate pubs and clubs. However, if you have got the sound that everyone wants, you are most definitely onto a winner. And that is where Little Room come into the picture…

 This London-based outfit tick all of the right boxes in today’s scene. Their songs are dark, edgy and undeniably modern; exactly what people want from their music. Sure, there may be other new bands who promise these things, but very few can deliver on quite the same par as Little Room. Simon Howlett’s powerful lead vocals and Lee Verralls'super-proficient drums ensure that each new track by this band is just as good as the last (and often better).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Little Room’s songs are inspired by some of the greatest acts of all; Radiohead, Joy Division, Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies, The Horrors, Interpol, White Lies, The Smiths, Sigur Rós, Cure, Warpaint… Therefore, it doesn’t take a genius to realise that Little Room are right on track with their music! Theirs is a sound which is very much in keeping with the times whilst their lyrics are thought-provoking and real. And Little Room also happen to be very well-known for putting on some cracking live performances. But if you have ever been lucky enough to have seen one of their London shows, you will already be aware of this…<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

 It is not a case of if Little Room make the big time, it is when. Put it this way; if this band were taking part in The Grand National, then they certainly wouldn’t need to take out horse insurance. Their music is exactly what we need right now and it is the perfect balance against today’s rather vacuous and manufactured Pop scene.

This is one of those great new bands you have been dreaming of but never though you would come across in your lifetime. Yes, believe it or not I am talking about the band “30 Fathom Grave”. They spew out a clomlec mixture of sound that is so unique it is difficult to miss their style when you hear it. Their groove is a combination of grunge, alternative, techno, and industrial.

30 Fathom Grave have their roots in Phoenix, Arizonia, and the band was formed some seven years ago. There are only two members in the crew David Thompson and Aaron Moya. Moya is the main vocalist and he also plays the bass and does much of the programming whereas Thompson is the guitarist and he also does much of the background abstracts sounds and the electronics.

The band completed their first album entitled Transcendence a few years ago and even though there are no pop up banners announcing its arrival the word surely got around. The album was one filled with songs that featured their style. There was a lot of electronic rock fused with some truly wild rhythms. The vocals of Moya is so distinctive and heavy it’s sometime hard to believe he can keep sing so intensely for so long.

Their second album “Consciousness and its implications” was released in 2009. This album showed that the duo had matured in their sound and were even better than ever. The album is epic in nature because of the sound it lets the fan in on. It is like a techno fight going on in outer space couple with some heavily distorted vocals. There are some truly hard thumping rhythms with a touch of melody that is refreshing.

30 Fathom Grave is a band that will give the listener more than what they bargained for a lot more than they would expect.

Festival season is upon us and there is much to choose from both at home and abroad. The Guardian online has a useful guide giving you a complete line up of everything that’s happening over the summer in the UK and across Europe. Out of all the selections though, one of the best has to be the Sziget festival being held in Budapest from the 8th to the 15th August.

Sziget has become one of the largest international music festivals in the world. Since it’s humble origins as a low profile student event it has grown and grown to achieve recognition from the music industry around the world and over half of all visitors to Sziget come from outside of Hungary. Situated on Obudai-sziget which translates as ‘Old Buda Island’ on the river Danube between Buda and Pest, the festival attracts many high profile acts including bands and DJs like Muse (who closed the main stage last year), Motorhead, The Killers, The Chemical Brothers, and The Prodigy. Smaller bands and home grown talent are also a huge part of the festival and visitors will be treated to a great mix of Hungarian rock and alternative music.

This year the Sziget is due to host Lemmy, Motorhead, Skunk Anansie, Radiohead and many more high profile acts. Day tickets cost around £40 with a camping stay for the duration coming in at £178 which compared to many UK festivals including Glastonbury is an absolute bargain.

Having your phone camera handy is also well advised as you will want to take many pictures and videos (if your phone has that capacity). It is therefore essential that you ensure your service provider has a decent roaming charge in place for you. If they don’t then you would be well advised to get another sim card for the trip. Doing a quick search online can produce the best roaming prices available for Europe and the rest of the world. It is worth investigating as the last thing you want when returning home is to be hit with a large phone bill.

Sziget has become so popular with the international music community that it is now ranked as one of the 5 best festivals in Europe by The Independent and one of the 10 best by the European Festival Awards. Some Hungarians have complained that the festival has lost some of its local flavour the past few years, but organisers are quick to point out that a large percentage of its content still caters to the home crowd. Hungarian bands and acts dominate a lot of the tents and the main stage on several days, so it is hard to understand the sceptics view point.

Getting to Budapest is easy with flights available from Luton, Gatwick and Heathrow in London. Ticket prices vary however and you should expect some fairly high prices in the summer season. That said, the festival experience is worth it and once you’re there, accommodation and food are both reasonable.

This extreme metal band started by guitarist Ciarán MacUiliam and bassist Pól MacAmlaigh I their home town of Skerries in Dublin in 1987. When the band started out they were more concentrating on an early hybrid mix of death metal and, primitive thrash that was rough in its delivery.

In 1991 after seeing an advertisement for a vocalist in a local heavy metal store, Nemtheange joined the band. With a vocalist in place the band then began to take on a darker outlook with its music influenced by the emerging black metal scene in Norway, Celtic Frost, and Bathory.

With the release of ‘Dark romanticism'in 1993 their first demo Primordia became Ireland’s first black metal band. There first mainstream debut album was released in 1994 called Imrama.

Imrama was considered by many critics as being a kind of melodic black metal. There subsequent releases were considered more epic in style and included ‘A journey’s End’. The use of more cultural influence was evident in their next two albums ‘Spirit the Earth Aflame and The Burning Season, and showed an amalgamation of folk, Celtic, and black metal styles. The darkest and bleakest of their albums was their fifth ‘The Gathering Wilderness'was released in 2005.their latest album is called ‘Redemption at the Puritan’s Hand'and was released in April this year.

This band has toured with the best in the genre including Immortal and recently won the Metal Hammer Golden Gods best underground band of the year award.

Online shopping is very common these days. You can get almost anything online. But can you buy musical instruments online? Yes, you can even purchase instruments online. From the violin to the saxophone and from the piano to the banjo you can buy it all online. However here are few things that have to be measured before you buy instruments online.

Every instrument varies in price according to their range and their stuff. People go to a number of local music stores around their city to find the best instrument. Today the preferred and the popular method to purchase instruments is online.

The reasons why it is preferred are because the product will come right to your doorstep and you have several payment methods like PayPal, net banking, wire transfer etc. You can buy instruments that are hundreds of miles from you and it will be delivered to you. Some important reminders about purchasing your instruments online are:

Make your purchase from legitimate websites like eBay, Amazon, dotmaison.com etc. other websites will try to exploit your need for an instrument and cheat you. Legitimate websites will ensure that the product is coming to you and also help you find out product warranty centers. In case you can not find any website with solution or warranty centers, then do not worry about doing the transaction.

Watch out for those who sell you second-hand instruments, unless you want to but a used instrument. You must be careful with vendors that have websites that don’t seem trustworthy, there is a lot of chicanery online. The best way to find if a vendor is real and not contrived is to read reviews. If there are no reviews then it is wise to not do business with that company.

You should be careful when you are paying for the product. If you are purchasing from a legitimate website like Amazon then you will be fine. Pay with the card do not pay with cash under any circumstances.

There is no reason that you shouldn’t be able to purchase an instrument online, you just need to be cautious when doing so and you will find the finest musical instrument online.

One of the best festivals I’ve ever been to is Iceland Airwaves, held in the kooky yet stunning town of Reykjavik every October. If festivals for you are all about seeing the top bands, camping in pools of mud and drinking watered-down lager then this place probably won’t be for you. If you like discovering new music, shopping for crafts fabric in cute little Icelandic shops and getting absolutely hammered on a local schnapps called “Black Death” then you’ll have a great time!
A lot of the acts that play at Airwaves are local or from other parts of Scandinavia. There are quite a few US bands too, as Airwaves is popular with US college students, who see Reykjavik as an easy way to visit Europe… I have seen a couple of reasonably famous groups and singers there, such as Biffy Clyro, but I usually try and avoid going to see British acts that I can see at home any time. For me, Airwaves is all about discovering new and unusual acts that I can take back to all my friends at home.
One of my favourite discoveries over the years has been the instrumental group “For a Minor Reflection”. Don’t let the fact that I described them as instrumental put you off. These guys can really rock out! In fact, when they came to the UK last year to support Sigur Ros, the Icelandic genius himself told a reporter that the young lads in FAMR could “out-Mogwai Mogwai”. The tunes may start slow and sweet, but just when you’re being lulled almost to sleep by their gentle guitar strumming, the drums kick in and the volume gets turned all the way up to loud. More than once I’ve actually jumped with shock at a FAMR gig…

<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"Verdana’,’sans-serif’"">The album “Teenage Dream” is Katy Perry’s second album, although you could count it as her third album. She previously released a gospel-rock album under her given name Katy Hudson. She changed her last name to Perry, her mother’s maiden name, because she did not want to be confused with actress Kate Hudson. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"/>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"Verdana’,’sans-serif’"">
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"Verdana’,’sans-serif’"">The songs on the album have catchy beats to them and if you’re not care, they get stuck in your head. The problem is all of the songs sound alike. It seems that music being created now choose to sample the same sounds and beats rather than come up with more original tunes. The two songs that particularly standout as being the quite good are “Teenage Dream” and “California Gurls,” reminding the listener of bubble gum style pop music.
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"Verdana’,’sans-serif’"">
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"Verdana’,’sans-serif’"">The songs on this album are like a suped-up version of Gwen Stefani. Most of the songs are peppy, upbeat tracks but she does include a couple of ballads. The song “Circle the Drain” showcases her voice and seeks to tell her version of the rock life. Her song “The One That Got Away” is a love song about to people with an old soul. It is like homage, as she mentions them, to Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash.
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"Verdana’,’sans-serif’"">
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"Verdana’,’sans-serif’"">Katy Perry, without a doubt has a great voice. She sings stronger than Britney Spears, has better control than Christina Aguilera, and has successfully moved both of them out of the everyday conversation. Even though this album is pretty fluffy, she will only continue her meteoric rise in the music industry. Her only competition these days seem to be Ke$ha.
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"Verdana’,’sans-serif’"">
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"Verdana’,’sans-serif’"">So go give Katy a listen while you figure out how Enigin can help you with your energy saving needs.

On a drive back from Whitby (a beautiful place on the North Yorkshire coastline) with my girlfriend (a beautiful girl from the Cornish coastline) we had a conversation that went a bit like this:

HER: So who’s Nick Cave?
ME: [splutter, splutter, reach for iPod]

I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty easy to miss someone in the middle of the great pantheon that is rock and roll. But to miss Nick Cave is a bit like building a car without an enigin. So for all those who haven’t heard of the moustachioed Australian wonderman, here’s why I think he is quite so ace.

Nick Cave is not just a singer, songwriter or frontman, although he is of course all of those things. He’s also a novelist, screenwriter and composer of film soundtracks. I’d heard of him before but only really got into his music when a friend of mine played me Where Wild Roses Grow, a duet with Kylie Minogue from the Murder Ballads album. Cave’s voice reminds me of Leonard Cohen at his finest - a deeply resonant voice with overtones of despair and depression, but also of hard won knowledge. I’d recommend that anyone interested in exploring Cave’s music start with Murder Ballads - it’s basically a concept album in which, funilly enough, each song tells the story of a (sometimes multiple) murder. The musical style is lush in places, sparse in others - a true guide to Cave’s versatility as well as his dark lyrical world. Perhaps my favourite song on the album is The Curse of Millhaven - a six minute folk punk rockout telling the story of a psychopathic teenage killer.

But Cave isn’t just about exploring the dark side. His album The Boatman’s Call contains some of the most haunting love songs I’ve ever come across. It’s a great counterpoint to Murder Ballads. So why not check out Cave’s work today?

A bottle of whisky for your Grandfather at Christmas is quite a cliché. Like socks for children and bottles of wine for the parents, a big bottle of whisky is hardly a very clever or considerate present. Sure, your Grandfather might drink a lot of the stuff, and he also loves receiving the gift, but perhaps it’d be better this holiday season to invest in something that he’ll use every year, not just until the booze runs out. Something that he can look at every time it gets used and remember the good times that you all spent together, remembering that Christmas.
Engraved glasses will last a lifetime, if treated right, and they are an excellent and subtle gift choice for the whisky drinker in your family. It is a Christmas gift that will make anyone’s enjoyment of the whisky improve. You have a choice when buying engraved glasses whether you want to go for the tasting part of the experience: if so you’ll want to get a short tasting glass built for that purposes; or if you want to give something that will be used everyday it’d be a better idea to give a whisky tumbler. These are much more solid construction, you’re able to feel the weight of the glass in your hand and it won’t tip over so easily. Tasting glasses are much thinner: so that you can easily swill them, hold them up to the light for inspection, and set them down.
It’ll make the rye taste better and if you want to give a really good present this year, you can give a few engraved glasses, marked with the brand of your grandfather or father’s favourite whisky. I recommend the wobble glass that will allow the whisky to swill in the glass and warm in your palm.
