In the summer of 2009, Sunny Beach, Bulgaria’s most visited summer resort, became part of the annual trance and house performances around the world with the main performer of the tour -the top DJ amon all in the world rates-Tiesto. The famous Bedroom Club hosted the event that was situated on the very beach near the clean Black Sea waters and gathered thousands of house and trance lovers from all over the world.

The hosts had prepared a huge scene for the performer that went way beyond the normal effort of banners. The place itself is an amazing club that offers all kind of entertainments for its guests. It is a unique place with its amazing interior and external design that attracts the eye even while passing by the location. The open sky, the pools under the hanging tables and the huge bedroom-lie places for visitors with palm trees decorations make the club one of the most wanted and desired places in the whole country and of course a centre for the House Around the World visit in Bulgaria.

The sale of the Tiesto tickets had started months before the opinning of the summer season and thousands had planned their summer vacations according to the event. The prices were quite reasonable which contributed to the success of the party itself.

The crowds at the club started gathering long bofore the openning hour and the party, even before officially started, promised great deal of fun and enterteinment. Many new DJs perfomermed to entertain the crown before the appearance of Tiesto.

Basically, the feeling is hard to describe -the hosts had organised an amazing lights show with remarkable sound systems. The DJ himself had prepared many new and older tracks of his music releases and thus made the experience unforgettable for every person in that crownd. Till sunrise, the crowd kept expanding and the fans enjoyed the music of its greatest performer even after the DJ left -till the late evening fans were still raving and enjoying the amazing performance by Tiesto.

Attention all festival lovers! Let’s face it, who’s not tight on cash? Even if you have good income, your money is a precious and valuable property. Every way to keep your money in your wallet rather than dishing it out is incredible, and this is why I am writing to you now. Reading Festival 2010 has an amazing line-up I’ve not witnessed before, including legendary bands such as: Queens of the Stone Age, Guns and Roses, Biffy Clyro, Lostprophets, Paramore and of course, the headliner of the entire weekend, the return of Blink-182! This line-up in itself is worth the £180 spent on a ticket at release, not to mention the dozens of other great bands to make an appearance. Go check the list, I highly recommend, as there’s something for everyone this year. however with only 38 days left until the festival, prices have gone way up, and I imagine places like e-Bay are just littered with scams.

So, I’m sure you’re just reading this waiting for the free ticket… So enough stalling! Becoming a “CAT”, or a “Campsite Assistance Team”member is the clean and legit way to get a free ticket to Reading, however there is a catch. This does mean you have to be working whilst at the festival. It’s three 8 hour shifts, which is a total of 24 hour work. Even so, this is hardly work, as the most you’ll be doing is promoting a green environment and handing out bin liners and information to the campers. If you’re outgoing, it’s certain that you’ll be making at least one or two lifelong friends during your work placement, as you will all be in the same boat together, not to mention having lots in common - you’re at a festival together to see the same bands, and you’re both probably really cheap! If meeting people isn’t your style however, bring a friend! I myself am going this year with two other friends, and we’re all very excited. There are still a few places left, so I’d contact Hotbox Events immediately to claim a place. The first step you take is paying a £225 deposit, which you do get back in October (if you do your work properly and adhere to the terms and conditions), which is a perfectly sensible thing to do on their behalf. If you fail to make a work shift, then they keep your deposit and blacklist you from other events… But hey, as long as you keep to your work, you’ll be fine! So if you are tight on cash and are dying to see any of the bands included in the amazing line up at Reading Festival 2010, or even if you just want to do it for the experience, take my recommendation. Get your student bottom off of those cheap leather sofas littering your flat and become a CAT.

There are many people who go to Lady Gaga concerts not even to hear the music but rather to see the performance. Since Lady Gaga emerged on the scene she has been having people ask what the heck is going on every time they see her. If she is performing you are guaranteed to see a show.

Lady Gaga does have an amazing voice. You will sometimes catch people singing her songs that you never thought would listen to her style of music. Much of her music is very catchy. When you hear it on the radio it may be beautiful or just make you tap your toes. Once you see a video of your beloved song or see her perform it you will have a new interpretation of the song. Lady Gaga is known for being over the top. She has been compared to early Madonna or Cindy Lauper. She usually has outrageous outfits that are completely crazy and often do not leave much to the imagination, seriously, you can see exactly where she has had laser hair removal done. They are usually skin tight and move with her as she dances across the stage. She has elaborate stage performances with amazing backgrounds and crazy props. Her face usually is at least somewhat covered by either a partial mask or with elaborate face paint.

With all of the craziness Lady Gaga has going on while she is on stage it can be easy to lose sight of what a great singer and performer she is. She can carry a tune better than most and has a range to die for. It may be easier to truly appreciate her voice by not watching her perform. The performance definitely takes center stage over her voice when she is in concert. If you want to see a great show you should see her in concert. If you want to enjoy her beautiful singing you should just listen to the radio.

Have you ever noticed how a lot of the very best music will come out of misery and suffering? It’s true!

Okay, so there is the obvious category of Goth to begin with; not everyone’s cup of tea, much like I could go my whole life without luxury bathroom accessories. But goth rock still deserves a mention. Some bands are unhappy to be placed beneath this black umbrella term and you could sit arguing all day about whether certain groups are true Goth outfits. Joy Division recorded some brilliant material, but it was all full of woe. Their singer, Ian Curtis, was a depressive and he ended up hanging himself in his home.

But depression and abject misery is by no means confined to the category of Goth. These dark emotions rear their heads in just about every type of music; and they have made great subjects for hundreds of different songs. Even Pop is full of good examples; think about Gnarles Barkley’s ‘Crazy’ for instance. In fact, a large percentage of this band’s music has some very dark and edgy lyrics.

Folk is also full of sorrowful songs and Leonard Cohen’s early albums make great suicidal accompaniment! A lot of the late Nick Drake’s work makes for miserable listening; and even Simon and Garfunkel wrote a good few gloomy tracks in their time.

The Heavy Metal and Rock genres have got some great depressing tunes. Think about Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’; ‘I sometimes wish I’d never been born at all. Carry on, carry on ‘cos nothing really matters.’ Or Black Sabbath’s ‘Paranoid’ with its tale of impending insanity. And those are just a couple of the more well known songs; there are hundreds of lesser heard tracks that are just dripping with doom-ridden words.

The truth of it is that depression, melancholia and broken hearts are all fantastic ingredients for a song. If you picked out the most popular tracks of all time, then most of them would have these dark themes. Wallowing in self-pity (our own or someone else’s) can often be a truly enjoyable experience!

There are so many awards handed out to musicians every year that they become somewhat meaningless. The awards are handed out in such a manner that it seems like everyone wins something or will win something the following year. It makes the whole thing a bit pointless and silly.

However, when one band consistently wins the same award year after year across different awards ceremonies hosted by different companies, then perhaps the band receiving the award truly deserves it.

I believe this is the case with Muse. They have, over the last few years, been awarded “Best Live Act”on numerous occasions (I am starting to wonder if they will need a new storage unit for their accomplishments). Many may disagree with this, but I have to say that after having seen them live five times, I know that they fully deserve their accolades.

They have blown many audiences away with their epic sounds and fantastic light shows. Their sets are always interesting and their music is often improvised to provide a different experience every time you see them. I would defy even someone who is not a fan of the band to dislike a Muse live show.

Muse have risen to worldwide success over the last seven years or so and are known as one of the world’s best bands. Their music is unique and hard to categorise because of that. Although you could generalise everything they do as mostly rock.

The best live show I saw Muse play was at Wembley Stadium. I stood amongst 70,000 of Muse’s most fanatical followers and absorbed a breathtaking two and a half hour show that included satellites, fireworks and even flying acrobats. It was an amazing night and I know that Muse will never top it, but it will not stop me seeing them time and time again. They are too good to miss and I will never get bored of hearing Dominic Howard’s thumping drums, Chris Wolstenholme’s crunching bass-lines or Matt Bellamy’s wailing vocals.

I am a big fan of all kinds of music, and with the dawn of the widespread technology and music on the internet it is a great time to be a listener. Thanks to things like iTunes, Spotify, and Last.fm all of a sudden you can spend a couple hours listening to bands that remind you of your favorite band. So the goal of this website is to find the really good ones, the ones that are really special and recommend them from one music lover to another.

Now the first band that I am going to mention has been a well kept secret of Ireland for a very long time, and has only recently broken onto the London stages (quite literally) and he is a man called Duke Special. With a style that is difficult to describe at best, this man could have been taken directly out of a Victorian burlesque act (if such a thing existed) thrown in a bit of jazz, a bit of rock, put the track to an orchestra and there you have it!

All I can really say is check him out, and watch this space from more new bands, bands that are just about to break and recommendations.
